Are SOUNDBOKS Illegal in Denmark?
We give you the answers here!
Can the police confiscate your SOUNDBOKS if you play too loud?
Yes. In the year 2020, the police decided to act much more consistently when it comes to fines and confiscation of SOUNDBOXES. Therefore, they are free to confiscate or seize a SOUNDBOKS without warning if they believe that the music from the speaker is a nuisance to other people, as such behavior is in violation of the public order paragraph §8:
§ 8. The police can prohibit the use of loudspeakers, music systems, musical instruments or the like, when the use can be assumed to be a significant disadvantage for the residents or passers-by.
Can the police issue a fine if you play too loud?
Yes, the police are also free to issue fines in connection with the playing of excessively loud music if they believe it is a nuisance to other people and thus in breach of the ordinance. Fines can also be issued without warning.
Where and when should I take care?
Always remember to check the signs around you if you have your SOUNDBOKS with you in public places such as parks etc. Also, pay particular attention after 20:00 on weekdays and 22:00 at weekends.
What is the worst that can happen?
The worst that can happen is that the police, without warning, seize or fine you for playing too loud music that is a nuisance to the surroundings.
REMEMBER to always party with reason in mind! If you are in doubt as to whether you are playing too loud music, turn it down a bit, and if you get a complaint from neighbors or the like, turn it down - you will avoid a fine, confiscation or seizure ;-)
